I’ll make this brief. I am so excited to be starting Sally Rooney’s latest novel Beautiful World, Where Are You that I express tracked creating the literary data for it. Based on my initial analysis of the data, I know there are four main character names who appear in the top 50 of words of the entire novel: Alice, Felix, Simon, and Eileen. I have NO idea who they are (yet). But, I can get a hint as to how they interrelate by charting the word frequency data for those character names. Here is what I see:

Right away I am curious about the relationship of Eileen and Felix to the other characters, considering how high their names spike. And, something major seems to go down in chapters 26-28–with Alice’s name appearing more frequently than any other time. I’ll stop there so I can get reading!
If you want to explore the book on your own, go for it right here! I offer tips for doing so here. You can also find data tools for Rooney’s first book Conversations with Friends as well as her follow-up hit Normal People.
More. To. Come.
